Support and Prevention Service

Support and Prevention Service

As part of living in Sheltered Housing or Housing with Care at Sutton Housing Society you will have access to a Support Officer. Having a Support Officer is part of this type of accommodation. The support and prevention team at Sutton Housing Society offers a ‘floating support’ service, which means they are not based in your building all the time. Your Support Officer will make an appointment to see you after you settle. We will assess any needs you may have and help you access any services you may need to help you live an independent, fulfilling life. We will review your support needs either annually or every six months, depending on the level of need.

We can help you with the following and more

  • Orientation in your new home and area, ensuring you have the opportunity to make new friends and stay connected to old friends
  • Leisure and social opportunities (access to social opportunities in and out of where you live)
  • Ask to meet with our Tenant Engagement Officer to look at what we have going on
  • Chair based exercise classes in most of our sheltered accommodation
  • Employment and volunteering (if you are looking for employment or a volunteering opportunity we can help by pointing you in the right direction and supporting you through the process)
  • Access to computer training and classes
  • Access and links to lifelong learning opportunities
  • Opportunities to be involved in how we run our services
  • Become a Social Health and Wellbeing Champion, have a say in the opportunities we offer
