Sutton Housing Society is a provider of social housing for rent within the London Borough of Sutton. We aim to provide our tenants with a professional service of the highest quality and to deliver value for money (VfM). This does not always mean going with the cheapest but delivering services in the best possible way, balancing quality, cost (economy), effectiveness and efficiency.
Guided by the principles of economy, effectiveness and efficiency we aim to get the best use of available, limited resources. This in turn, means we will be able to provide better services to our tenants.
Under the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) Regulatory Committee’s “Regulatory Framework for Social Housing in England from 2012”, our Board of Management “must maintain a robust assessment of the performance of all their assets and resources (including financial, social and environmental returns)”. This assessment must be available to our stakeholders in a “way that is transparent and accessible” and show how we are achieving VfM.
Our tenants and stakeholders can be assured that we take the time to compare service providers when service and other contracts are renewed. We seek to get the best prices and quality possible. We carefully review all of the services we provide directly. We will constantly look to improve these and to deliver them at the lowest possible cost.
We will also consider value to the wider community in the delivery of our services and in the way we operate. If we can identify a benefit which can be achieved through changes in our service or our housing – for example in potentially lower health or personal support costs through design or adaptations – we will always endeavour to do this.
